CD DISCANTO RIDE LA LUNA NEW ORIGINAL SEALED
The group gathers around the figure of Michele Avolio, a singer and guardian of the Abruzzo folk tradition for over thirty years. The research material used is partly inherited from the musical group "Vico del Vecchio", active from 1976 to 1995, but is re-proposed in an original form that blends arias, texts and expressions of the oral tradition with the sounds of instruments such as guitar, bouzouki , mandola, violin, cello, accordion, percussion, clarinets, bagpipes ... The repertoire includes: traditional Abruzzese songs; traditional songs of southern Italy; auteur songs in Abruzzo dialect; ethnic music from different backgrounds.
Recorded in Sulmona in the "Officine DisCanto" between August and December 2007, it was released in two different versions: the first, for the American public, was printed in Philadelphia (PA) in October, the second, printed by the Easyreplica of Pesaro, is release in December.
Produced by the Musical Association "DisCanto" with the contribution of the Carispaq Foundation and the Comunità Montana Peligna.
"Ride la luna" is a collection of pieces from different areas of Abruzzo (Marsica, Altopiano delle Rocche, val Pescara, peligna valley, Vasto), therefore offers the opportunity for an interesting and engaging journey into the region's rural culture . A songs of love and pain, of work and begging, are accompanied by nursery rhymes and lullabies reworked in the greatest possible respect of the original texts and motifs. The tracks 1, 3, 8, 12, 13 and 14 were collected in the plain of the river Pescara by the musician and researcher Ettore de Carolis and his wife Donatina Furlone in the early 70s.
